The Christian Foundation
. . . supports both new and established nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations with missions that embody or support Christian values and principles.
Our resources are far from adequate to fulfill the needs of all worthwhile programs. Consequently, many worthy programs are unable to be funded, and those that are often receive less funding than deserved.
The Foundation gives preference to qualifying organizations with programs that:
Provide needed facilities or services for which public funds are not available or not sufficient, and for which the Foundation’s contribution would have significant impact; or
Contribute to the educational, cultural, economic or social betterment of society.
The Foundation does not generally consider requests for:
Research
Long-term operations support
Building fund campaigns
Debt reduction
Endowments, or
Programs that influence legislation or elections
The Christian Foundation was initially funded by a distribution of the assets of the New Early Christian Church, a religious organization which conducted regular religious programs and activities. In 1981, the church amended its Articles of Incorporation and expanded its scope of activities to include the making of grants and distributions to other exempt religious, charitable and educational organizations. The church transferred its assets to the Foundation in November 1981, and the Foundation commenced grant-making operations during fiscal 1982.
To date, income for distribution has been generated solely from the investment proceeds of the Foundation’s assets. Grants and distributions are intended to serve educational, cultural, medical, religious and other social purposes. During its many years of operation, the Foundation has provided assistance to a wide variety of programs since it has opted not to severely restrict the grant-making orientations.
Board of Trustees
Each year our Board of Trustees reviews applications from numerous nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations around the country with meaningful causes and moving missions. Trustees conduct interviews, financial analysis and site visits with qualified applicants, to determine which organizations will have the greatest impact with our limited resources.
